Clients demanding more from contingent workforce providers

The trend of providing employee-style benefits to contingent workers is overall positive, but recruiters and contractor management organisations are wearing most of the associated legal risks, a seasoned HR professional says.

The contracting model traditionally used to be “we’ll do your payroll and your super, but you’re kind of on your own for the rest of it”, says Career Money Life founder and CEO Sandy Hutchison, who previously led Marsh & McLennan’s APAC HR division and was a partner at Mercer.
